Gearboxes for Kent engines

Hi all,
I am building with a 1300 Crossflow in mind. I have a Cortina mk5 so have taken the gearbox out before I scrap it. Can I use this gearbox with Xflow? Where do I get a clutch plate to fit Xflow flywheel and Cortina gearbox spigotshaft splines?
Any help gratefully received.

I just bought a clutch plate to join a crossflow to a type 9 sierra box from EBC clutch centre in northampton.It turned out to be a plate that fitted 1300 capri and 1600 mk 3 4and 5 cortinas, so maybe you will be able to use your existing clutch.It is 190mm dia and 23 spline 25mm shaft.

I think that it needs to be a box from a 1600, as the 2000 pinto type 9 box has a bigger nose bearing.

How does that have any bearing(!) on a Corblimey four-speeder then Chris?

If you are fitting a five speed, it's also worth remembering the 1600 box has the release fork on the nearside, and the 2000 on the offside, if you're strapped for space.

And they don't call me plastic tank man for nothing! Although what that's got to do with it god only knows????????

My gearbox was a 2000 type and the tail bearing was 16mm, the engine was fitted with a 16mm roller bearing as it had been fitted to a FWD gearbox. This would be an easy thing to sort.

Sorry if I'm being thick, but are the MK plastic tanks any good? Are they lighter than the steel versions?

yes they are very good, no i aint got one, plan to though over the winter.....would go as far as "best tank i ever seen in a locost" there......
