Cooling adaptor - Datsun 240 Samuri

Hi All,

I know this isn't locost exactly, but I'm tryign to help out my boss.

He's recently bought a Datsun 240Z, and wants to fit a fan switch to the existing head (simple switch to ground) But we can't seem to find a suitable switch to fit the hole. The normal fan switches are usually quite large.

Does anyone know where to source a smaller type or possibly an adaptor to do this?

Many thanks

Neil

What about using the type which fit into the top hose like this

yeah we thought about that but he want to look authentic.

The head has a place to fit it, as the automatic version had a thermostat, but as you can imagine it's now 30 years opld and parts are a touch rare!

Yes I understand the originality req, but as you say original fit kit for this car is going to be very scarce. An in hose adapter could be used as an interrim to make the car usable.....

very true, except he just forked out £200 for a set of new hoses!

the fan is electric and curretly on a switch, so I suspect we'll keep looking

any other ideas?

£200 - eek. How about the kenlowe switch, that has a bulb on the end of a fine copper capilary, which slips between the hose and rad inlet, so no butchery, and its adjustable.

Not as elegant as in hose and but could get him by...

Have a word with your local radiator specialists they may be able to fit a boss in one of the tanks on the rad to take a switch . Switches have the temperature range engraved on the hexagon so you can select the heat range you need . Most decent motor factors should have the switches in stock or you may be able to get an adjustable one from CBS. Would recommend fitting a relay for the fan .
