Several links on this one Stuart if you want some details.

As a summary ive used the Cortina oil trap in place of the PCV, then as big a pipe as i could get awy with into catch tank.

Some others have used a crankcase outlet from Burton Power.

DIY method is to remove the spring and plunger from PCV and feed pipe to catch tank. I tried it but wasnt happy as it seemed to be restrictive.

Catch tank doesnt have to be a mega expensive £60 job.

Try searching catch tanks, Pinto breathing etc. Just ignore the lengthy post i made a year ago. I had horrendous issues - turned out they were caused by unknown origin dip stick resulting in severe overfilling of oil. Since level has been good very little has been ejected into catch tank - i havent had to empty for 9 months so far (1,500 miles or so).

1 - i did this locost solution, was a simply operation and seems to work ok.

2 - couldn't agree more on this one, i got a brand new fabricated one off ebay for no more than £30 inc p+p though some people go locost and use beer cans or old WD40 spray cans, modified obviously!

edit - spelling

If you pull the PCV valve out of the crankcase breather oil seperator, in the end you will see the plunger. It iis retained by the steel body that is rolled over at the end. I carefully ground the rolled over end off until the plunger and spring were able to be removed. This leaves a straight through path for the oil vapour.
I didnt use mine as for some reason the pipe outlet was 2 very small ones - hence constriction.

The PCV if just pushed into CC breather via grommet - should pull out easily. Give this a try.

Oil filler cap - mine is type with gauze inside and a pipe outlet. I simply fed a pipe to the catch tank. Some dont have the pipe outlet and are vented around the cap - i think thats the type your weblink says to seal. Most systems ive seen vent the cap to catch tank. If you need a new one halfords have plenty on the shelves.

Catch tank - do a search and save your self loads. Neatest DIY ones ive seen are an anodised ali drinks bottle. No reason why you cant just stuff the pipes in from the top. Keep the catch tank relatively high - maybe in line with top of rocker cover and dont let pipes touch the bottom. If you have some pipe theres no reason why you cant model this lot up in an evening for no more than £5 - £10.

All i can say from experience is dont do what i did and overfill sump. Nightmare, absolute bloody nightmare and caused just cos a previous owner must have lost dipstick and used one from different car. Probs worked in road car but with shortened sump - nightmare, bloody nightmare!!
If all is well all you will get in your catch tank is foul smelling liquid stuff, and maybe an inch or 2 in bottom of a 1 litre tank after 1,000 miles. If you are chucking oil out it may not be doom and gloom but suggests its not breathing correctly. On a hard track session expect tank to hold more than normal.
