Hi folks

I'm building a Robin Hood with a 2.0 zetec. I got a mocal oil cooler and associated gubbins as part of my engine package but i'm wondering if its worth the bother of fitting it. Will the oil get hot enough to warrant it, given it'll only be dragging around 7 or 8 hundred kilos?

Should i just sell it instead or go on and fi it?

fit it, more you do for the condition of the oil the better, start the car gently first time as it will take quite a bit of time to fill everything (best to pour oil down one of the hoses and fill it all up before finally connecting it) and get your oil pressure up to normal.

Unless the engine is tuned and/or your intending a lot of track action then I can't see that it's worth it. Regular oil changes would be better IMHO.

i was out yesterday for a good thrash and i could not even get my car up to temperature

you may be adding more weight. why not try without and fit if you see a need.

Never fit an oil cooler on a road car without an oil thermostat.

Only use Ford spec 5w/30 or 5/w40 full or part synthetic oil.

quick answer just fit it u might not need it ,u might not want it but you've got it and it will do more good than harm

i have one on mine - sited close to the footwell so not sure how effective it is - put it there ot increase oil volume.

I guess I should get the old IR thermometer on it to see the temp andthen decide if it need posiitoning closerto t he air flow ot blocking off!
