pinto distributor removal

Hi Ladies and Gents

I've seen a few people that have capped off the dizzy, obviously leaving the drive to the oil pump in situ, anybody who has done this mod and has a picture or two on how they did it would be most welcome as would any other advice, bearing part numbers etc

Thanks Rob, thankfully I have a lathe so shouldn't have to learn the hard way Did the bearing come with that rubber cap and does it weap oil at all?

Mines not as neat as Robs but essentialy i cut the ali body off the top that houses the points. Filed the stud round. Cut shaft off a bit. Net result is full shaft bearing is intact, therefore no secondary bearing needed. Works fine.

Very tidy job! Slight hijack, what are those things called that go between the oil filter and the engine? Are they to get an oil feed for an oil cooler or a turbo?

Measurements on images and a couple of grub screws retain the bearing.

If it's anything like the piece I turned down for DaveFJ's Pinto engine, it's an extremely tough and gnarly material! I had a lot of trouble getting anything like a decent finish.

(can't remember if that was the sleeve or the shaft though...)

I must have been lucky as it seemed to work with no problems at all on the lathe although I do have tunston carbide tips to work with which will help as well as a decent cutting fluid.

I did cheat with the first bit though
