I have recently purchased a locost 7, with a 1300cc crossflow engine. It is running a standard carb, and standard manifolds. I have access to a weeber
twin chock and inlet manifold. What sort of things should I do to improve the performance?
Another I idea I had was to fir a spare rover V8 into it...... do they fit and what gearbox can be used?
Any help would be great.
Cheers
Stuart
hi and welcome.
Depends on how your cas was built - ie was it made wider or not.
I would suggest a visit with a tape measure to your local friendly scrap yard.

Stu,
It'd be easier to start with a fresh build to fit a V8. It can only be described as a fair old pile of work to do a transplant.
The default gearbox with these engines is the old LT77, often in completely shagged form. Someone said on here that MK say the V8 fits, but on their
chassis, you need to used the Ford Type 9 (bellhousing available from Abbey Sportscars).
Personally, I'd go down the latter route, an MK indy with a V8/Type 9 combo.
As for the Webber, yep, go-ahead, fit it, it'll run better and you should have a noticeable improvement in driveability instead of that VV PoS
Cheers for the advise, I fitted the twin down draft weber and played with the timing and got it going much better. One last question I am looking at changing the cam, is it possible to do with the engine in place.
Not really as tappets would fall into the sump.
turn the car upside down?
