I`m having a fairly major overheating problem with my Mx3 1.8 V6
When running it just gets hotter and hotter no matter what I do - the fan has no effect at all .
It has a polo rad (mounted upside down to get the pipes in the right place) , but I`m having doubts as to whether the top and bottom hoses are the
right way round - on the V6 they are both at the same height , and the thermostat housing is on the back of the engine , and from what I can tell
should be connected to the bottom of the rad .
Is the waterpump working?

I had the same problem on my xflow.
I removed the gill mesh, to improve airflow, and put a couple of drops a fairy liquid in the coolant (it acts like water wetter)
Now it seems to be very happy
hope that helps
Sounds like you may have it piped up the wrong way round,if this is the case it will slowly overheat, have you just finished the build,or has it been on the road for a while and just started doing it,as if this is the case, check your water pump, and headgasket 1st

Looks like the culprit was........a dodgy header tank cap
As soon as it started to get warm , it just spat the coolant out..........
I did a thirty mile drive (with the cap fixed `locost` style
) and all seems well
