zetec mated to a mt75 box. there is a heavy knocking noise when when the car is in neutral and ticking over, when i depress the clutch the noise goes and all sounds well, The car drives well and there is no vibration or anything through the clutch pedal. It has a new 1.8 clutch and flywheel along with the modified westfield release bearing and a new spigot bearing fitted to the crank, anybody any ideas before i split and investigate.
with no pre-tension on the pedal the bearing rattles.
Fit a spring on the clutch arm to hold the bearing upto the cover plate
or ignor it
that sounds like simple fix
cheers

On the Golf mines always rattled, when it came to replacing the clutch i fitted a new bearing as it was ruined, still rattles a minorly but shouldnt be anything to really worry about.
I thought I had a noisy clutch - untill I checked the gearbox oil level........ Topping it up quietened things a little , but it seems my £40 ebay
gearbox is a knacker
And I know its not the clutch bearing , its a concentric/hydraulic one with a built-in spring . It now makes the most god-awful graunching
/rattling/rumbling most of the time , but goes quiet when the pedal is depressed .
I think the 997 mile trip to France , and some serious full throttle abuse have really killed it off now though
ive got a spare gearbox so i will run it through summer and see if it goes bang and will change in winter
