having got on well previously with bike carbs, im thinking if trying some on my 2litre zetec track day car, what im wondering is it possible to run carbs in conjunction with the standard engine management to operate the ignition only? will still utilise a TPS on the bike carbs but does the Lambda sensor have any effect on ignition or will the lack of the injection cause the management unit to go into fault and not work at all. just a idea as pre 95 engine could be cheaper than throttle bodies.
Even if it worked electrically it wouldn't actually be tuned properly. The behaviour of an engine in relation to throttle position on four bike carbs is very different to an equivalent throttle position on the standard throttle body!
Best thing is to put megajolt ignition on it as it is mappable and also about 70 pounds. you have already got a crank sensor and tpi so its so easy.
Standard Zetec management uses MAP for load sensing IIRC, so no it won't work!
I have a megajolt v3 new and tested available for £75 plus postage , you will be able to use the existing coilpack and crank sensor but will need to
find an Edis module to operate with it.

Look for a older Escort or Orion, around D reg with a cvh engine that has a coilpack on it. Not one with a dizzy.
The Ford ECU out then cars is easy to set up and run the engine. There was a feature in PPC a while ago, not sure which one though.
does the megajolt just use the crank position sensor and TPS? is it possible to get through the pre 95 MoT with this set up? if going this route would it be just as worth while going the full megasquirt and throttle bodies though?
I have a gems system fitted and run twin 40's on a 1.8 zetec went through the SVA no cat needed mos of the test was visual smoke test and co2
