I was juts watching a racing car is born with mark evans, and he juts out his 1.8 zetec in on webers.
But he said that standard it was about 115 BHP but with the twin 40 webers it was about 150 BHP? surely a straight swap from fuel injection to carbs
cant boost the BHP that much?
Or am i missing something/being a complete idiot?
Yup you are being a complete idiot!!

My 2L zetec was 136bhp as standard with the injection fitted as standard in the Ford Mundaneo. Dont forget this is set up very much for emmissions and
fuel ecconomy. Simply fitting a tubular exhaust like we do will release several bhp but bolting on carbs or individual TB's like we do rather
than the restrictive single TB in the standard system will allow you to pump in loads more fuel, which combined with the massively improved breathing
by removing all the standard kit will allow the engine to generate much more power.
My car gave 173bhp on the rollers at 2 different Rolling Roads. An increase of 37bhp over the Mondeo it came out of.

Just fitting 2litre cams to a 1.8 or 1.6 Zetec is worth surprising amount of power also.
