What clutch can i use that it stronger than a standard one, flywheel is of a 1800 i think its about 190mm or 200mm. the clutch i have in at the moment looks good but just not up to the job, its slipping. Thanks kev.
I have the same problem with my zetec turbo, and couldn't find a cheap strong clutch for a 1800 zetec flywheel. I ended up throwing another
standard one in as I was competing in the GOME 6hr and needed something (the old one was absolutely toasted).
For a cheap (£10 from ebay!) standard clutch it's doing surprisingly well and hasn't slipped yet, but I don't think it's a long
term solution, especially as I want to turn the boost up some more.
I think I'll end up going with an AP paddle plate and the standard clutch cover. Either that or get the flywheel redrilled for a pinto clutch, as
there are a wider range of uprated clutches available for them thanks to the old school rally boys.
If you find anything reasonable, let me know!

What about an RS Focus jobbie? Not sure about the exact fitment but i have a sneaky feeling it will be a nut and bolt job.
Don't quote me!

For the ultamate power the 6 paddle are the best.
Ap is good quite progressive, alcon is ment to be very progressive.
I have heard the valeo paddle material is ment to be progressive as well.

Focus RS won't work - it's a 240mm clutch and you can only fit a 220mm one on the 1800 flywheel. And they are VERY expensive :-(
I thought of Escort RS Turbo, as they are 220mm, but the driven plate is wrong as the ERST gearbox uses a 7/8 in input shaft, not a 1" like the
type 9 etc.
No easy (cheap!) solution that I've found so far...
what about looking for a diesel clutch ? should in theory be designed to take more torque.
Couldn't you just fit the larger 2.0L Zetec clutch and flywheel?
i thought both the 1800 and 2litre used 220mm clutches, if its just slipping can you just get a up rated pressure plate? ive just got through 2 friction plates in my 2L zetec track day fiesta and both times the cheap friction plates failed first one the complete centre came out last one friction material revet failed. now gone for a complete HELIX uprated kit rated at 178ld/ft £250!. cheaper option would have been a diesel version!
