Should I mount my mini bobbin vertically or horizontal? It's a 907 can..

Also should the bobbin/mount be at the rear end of the can, middle or front?

rear of the can and with the studs vertically unless you want to change it every 1000miles. it's about all mine have lasted.

I've done 5000 miles with the bobbin horizontal - but it's a light silencer that's held up quite well by the exhaust pipe.

Logic says that vertical should last longer...

If you want a larger bobbin the one off a Renault Espace can be used.

when i was talking to dax - they told me to mount the bobbin 45 degrees to the engine side due to engine movement when revving - due to the exhaust only being attached at the manifold and the rear of the can it allows the exhast can to move better reducing stresses in the collector area - apparently..

They work best when compressed as other stresses won't break the rubber but might separate the rubber from the metal plates. Depends on how big they are really as I'm using two small engine mounts either end of my heavy 6" can.

RS components do some nice rubber bobbin type mounts that have a 10mm tapped hole in each end and are about 50mm long and 30mm dia .I used one mounted vertically and have had no problems since fitting it, I found mini type exhaust mounts and a few others i tried only lasted a few miles.
