Has anyone here put bike carbs on a k-series before? Im thinking of doing it. if i use an early K-series with distributor what electrics can be binned
that would normally be needed to run it?
Just trying to make it as simple as possible.
Craig.
No one???
Any advice on putting any engine on bike carbs? Engine will be either 1.6 or 1.8.
I think the lack of response probably indicates that you're a bit of a pioneer on this one. There's a few on here running K's with the
original plenum setup, mine's on t/b's, but I've not heard of any locosters running bike carbs on one.
Don't see why it should be any problem though, unlike the Zetec, the k's inlet ports are round, which should make knocking up a manifold
alot easier.
Can't comment on the distributor setup I'm afraid as mine was a later non-distributor engine, but I binned all that and went the megasquirt
route. I suspect that using the distributor still involves the ecu to decode the crank sensor signals and fire the coils - but I don't know this
for sure. You could certainly fit a 36-1 crank trigger wheel and use Megajolt with EDIS, or of course retain the standard ecu. Britishtrident's
your man for this, maybe he'll be along soon to give us the lowdown.......
