Got a bit of a problem and need some advice - I am in the throws of changing the cams on my zetec and one of the bearing cap bolts has rounded. Any
advice on how to get it out without leaving swarf everywhere?
Help!!!
I think I would try and weld a nut on and take it out with a socket
mole grips or a smaller worn socket first, welding would be a last resort. They are not that tight,15-20 ft/b from memory.
Think I've some spare bolts if you need them once you've got the duff one out....
Much appreciated. Might well take you up on that kind offer, once the little sod is out.
Have just tried the mole grip and the smaller socket option with no joy.
Time for plan B........................ If only I had a plan b!

Just had a scout round for the bolts, can't find them but I do have some bearing caps, if you damage that let me know and I'll send you a
couple.

I think I am using 12 point sockets to be honest. I have got hold of some stud removal sockets from a friend of mine so am going to have another go
tonight. Will let you now how it goes.
Pete - If I could have one of those bearing caps (and a couple of the bolts if you find them) I would be grateful. Shall I U2U my address?
Thanks
The bearing caps are numbered and not interchangeable in theory , but if your stuck without one it may work but I would assemble the cam shaft without
tappets first to check it turns freely.
