One of the OEM headers on the RS4 engine got squashed, so I cut the offending section out.
I'm not a welder, but to me it looks like a fairly straightforward repair... any opinions before I take it to 'a man'!
PIC HERE
looks simple, unless the system was plasma, or ceramic lined, then there would be a drop in performance, but only marginal.
Don't know Audi engines well enough
stainless?
Looks easy, I'd check the mating surface is flat after welding (lay a steel rule across it) chances are it will distort and need a light skim.
I'd bolt it to the head and then weld it up, mind to plug up the ports first. Definitely best done with a TIG to limit distortion.
That's too big a gap to fill with weld. You really need a piece of tube in there

It's the way you type 'em!
Looks like an ideal location for a turbo if you ask me!
The right hand end looks as though it may be a bit inaccessible for a tig weld?
With the flattened section removed, should be a simple job to reform it, weld it back in with rutile MMA if access if tight
