Flywheel Advice

My engine came with a dual mass flywheel, trigger wheel and clutch.
First Q... whilst sitting about the garage, the clutch assembly has formed light surface corrosion - should I worry about this, or will it sort itself
out once running?
Second Q... the dual mass flywheel and trigger wheel are pretty BIG fellows. I have no problem with fitting a lightweight ali trigger disc to the
main pulley on the other side of the engine, but is it worth me faffng around with the flywheel? If I change the flywheel to a lighter design... does
that impact on the clutch, etc?
I feel better posting about this after reading the linked thread about engines working backwards the other day...

the rust I see no issue with, the fact that the trigger wheel is heavy may mean that is is being used as a flywheel, I would not replace it.

Based on another post about welding headers I'm guessing it's an Audi RS4 engine?

Been looking at 'stuff' on the net and it looks like a world of pain, so will leave it alone!

Hmm, sounds like maybe some US forums, in England we say 'a lot of bother'.
FWIW my vote would have been to use the original flywheel set up too

If it's a magnetic trigger than an aluminium trigger wheel won't get you very far.

not sure about the trigger wheel. But on my beams 3sge it had a Dual mass flywheel, which is really really heavy (mine was 12.5kg) and have replaced
it with an aftermarket light weight (5.8kg) that is a lot of rotating mass!
I also had to get a new clutch plate to one with springs in the middle.
This is to help absorb drive line shock as the dual mass flywheel usually does this.
Dual mass flywheels also tend to wear out really quickly, and expensive to replace. Cheaper down here for a full TRD solid set up (including clutch)
than just a new flywheel
not sure if that applies to the audi thou.
