Is it really a 205 block??

My engine block says 205 at the bottom of one side of the block next to the ford logo, as opposed to at the top of the block. Strange...

Is it still a "205" stiff block? Out of a D reg sierra carb.

It's been mentioned before that all 2.0l Pinto Sierras had the 205 block I think.
Did you get my u2u ed?

This was my old block. I originally thought it was a 205 block, but then read somewhere that a 205 block has the 205 under the exhaust ports, not way down near the bottom of the block. as ed says it came from a d reg 2.0gl sierra on a weber carb.

tbh, ive looked at piccies of James' painted work of art, and the outside profile of the block looks exactly the same as on mine, so i think it probably is. It might have been that they were cast at 2 different foundries or sthg. either way, im not going to go mental with cologne pistons and turbos, so its purely of academic interest.

Ned, its got 0.25mm undersize mains and BEs, but theyre date stamped early 1986! (would suggest its NOT been rebuilt, unless it just happens that the bearings put in it had been hanging aournd the storeroom for 15 years!) curious... Maybe the Glacier bearing type was 0.25mm too big in standard form, and that glacier 0.25mm US were a standard fit???

but who cares, it just needs thrust washers, and a set of mains, then the bottom end is sorted.

Do I really need a high pressure oilpump for a road car??

onlt if you want oil to wee from every orifice

use a standard FORD oil pump

not a patern part

My Pinto block from a G reg Carb Sierra has a small 205 cast low down on the block and a large 205 cast just below the exhaust ports.

Is this a "proper 205" block?

As above, not really important, but interesting to know...

Cheers

Nick

stating the obvious

205 block = 205 cast on block

exhaust is head not block
