Speedo Drive (again)
LBMEFM - 4/8/08 at 06:36 AM

Am I just thick (don't answer that) or just confused or does everybody have different ideas on how to drive the speedo. ie I have been told of Hall effect, Honda, car ABS sensors that count magnets, teeth, proshaft bolts and studded ring gears fitted to the front of the propshaft and rear driveshafts.

I have got hold of a Honda VFR800 sprocket speed sensor. Can someone please give me a simple idiots step by step guide (if this sensors suitable, if not what is) to where and how I fit this to power my Indy Fireblade speedo. Will this sensor give the correct speedo reading and if not can I adjust it.

Barry

hi

i glued magnets on to the gearbox output flange at 12 and 6 o clock, then made up a bracket to possition the original speed sensor so it would hover over the magnets, i then used a speedo healer to calibrate the speedo the speedo clocks

the speedo healer just plugs straight inbetween the cable going to the clocks and the original speedo sensor

http://www.healtech-electronics.com/ will tell you about the speedo healer

hope this helps
