Are all crossflow sumps the same? , my engine i am using has been fitted with a FWD sump and the deep part is at the crankpulley end rather than the
flywheel. This would be ok apart from the fact that the dipstick hole has been blanked off as it is now at the wrong end. It is a 1600 engine and i
seem to remember that the sump depth may be different to the smaller engines.
Does anyone know where i could obtain one in the midlands area?
Paul.
As far as my experience goes (!), there were 2 kinds of sump fitted to RWD x-flows. The standard one was about 8" deep, with 6.5" deep ones fitted to
'sport' models (and autos).
The sport ones also have a few extra baffles inside, which is useful.

Not me - I've got the 6.5" one!
(and I'm neither boasting nor complaining!)

If you cant get a sump try brazing a dip stick tube into the side if the sump.
