
How does the vvt on a Focus St170 engine work please... looking at it closely without taking it to bits it looks like the cam changes when a solenoid
looking thing allows oil pressure into the mechanism on the cam, thats how I see it, please tell me if I'm wrong
If I'm right will it just be a matter of powering the solenoid at the required revs to change the cam?? Was thinking of using one of the change
lights on my Megajolt set at say 4k to activate the vvt.
Is that too simple or is much more involved??

As far as I know you hit the nail on the head there and it would be as simple as using a programmable output from your management to set the solenoid
and advance the cam, don't hold me to it though!....... 
Yep, you're spot on, and I have seen it just wired to a switch on the dash, simple as that.
TBH its pretty tractable switched "on" all the time!
