What is the Difference between the zetec engines?
I love speed :-P - 31/12/03 at 02:37 PM

I have been looking on the 750mc website and the kit car championship regulations.
http://www.motorsnippets.com/750mc/racing/regulations/Technical_regs_-_Kits_2004.pdf

Under section 5.7.8 it says

quote:
Ford Zetec: code RDA/RDB (105 spec) or RQB/RQC (130 spec). RKA/RKB/RKC (115 spec) engines or cylinder heads are not permitted;

Now I was wondering, what the differences are between them, and which cars they come out of

Thank 4 ur time

Philip Moreton

I dont know for sure, but I'm guessing that the RKA etc engines are the later Zetecs, with plastic rocker covers, and shimmed valves instead of hydrualic tappets. Out of post 97 IIRC....

Hi,

Hope this helps:

RDA - Phase 1 Zetec 1.8 from the Escort
RQB - Phase 1 Zetec 1.8 from the 130ps Escort (same engine as the RDA but with 2l cams & a larger throttle body)
RKA - Phase 1 Zetec 1.8 from the Mondeo.
RKB - Phase 2 Zetec 1.8 from the Mondeo

Sorry, I can't help with the rest, they're not in my edition of the Ford TIS

Cheers,

Steve
