No matter how I try I cannot get my Fireblade to run smoothly. It misfires and will not rev freely. I carried out tests on the coils, change the plug
caps and cleaned the plugs. The only thing I can now think of is that I changed the HT leads with wire ones which are a different length to the
originals so that the reach the new position of the coils. Could this be the problem?

If i's on carbs, do you have a jet kit in, or if FI, is there a power commander?
Are you sure you've got the coils attached to the corresponding plugs?
I have re-checked the coil leads with the manual and they are correct. I still have the original jets in the carbs but now have socks fitted to the
inlet trumpets. Could this be the problem with the reving?

If its on standard carb settings with no jet kit fitted and trumpet socks it definately will be massively lean and will not rev properly. If you want
to prove it tape up the socks so that just a small ammount of filter is exposed and things will improve - if you give me a call on 01449 736633 at the
unit tomorrow I will give you all the settings to get her going properly
hope that helps

It could be worth checking the carb tops havent been disturbed. I had an early issue with my Kawasaki keihins. I had taken the tops off to give them a good clean out and the rubber diaphragms were a bugger to get seated. I put them in place with rubber grease first which cured it. Basically when trying to rev the engine the pistons werent sliding correctly on 2 carbs. All was well afterwards.
