Xflow Alignment & Position
Dick Axtell - 15/7/02 at 07:05 AM

FAO All Xflow users -

According to info gleaned, the Xflow engine should be positioned with the crankshaft centreline 120mm above the front chasis tube, and 19mm offset to nearside.

Why the need for the offset? Successful builders please advise.

Hi Conrod,

Thanks for the comment. After this morning's efforts (I don't got no hoist) fiddling the engine to achieve the "correct" offset, I discovered the main reason for it. It's to prevent the oil filter assy fouling the lower chassis engine bay rail, i.e. when the engine rocks on its mountings.

So now I've got to fashion a spacer to fit between the RH mounting brkt and the block. Moving the brkt closer in would mean that I couldn't get a nut on the lower rubber bobbin thread.

It's all very much trial & error (it's b***dy trying, and I make loads of errors).

Still fettling
