Due to the extortionate prices of all the alloy water radiators I can find I was thinking of using one of these:
http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=340_367&products_id=2261
With the 3/4" BSP connections - do you think it would flow enough water to not be restrictive?
PS. If anyone know of anywhere to buy similar sized alloy radiators for sub £100 please let me know! Rally design's all seem to be around
£300!!

Just wondering wy it has to be ally?
Does it need to be a particular size/shape?
A standard Polo or Micra rad with ally core and plastic end tanks can be had brand new for £40-50.
look at www.thinkauto.com
they do up to 60 row, but stop listing price at 44 row which is, sit down first, a mere 155 + VAT.
thinkauto make them so in theory should be cheaper than RD.
this question bout using oil cooler for water came up before - do a search - and I think the consensus was that it was not a top idea - the oil
coolers run at much higher pressure so have thicker tube hence no so good at transferring heat. dunno what engine you have but that oil cooler is on
the small side.
what is wring with a polo radiator? the core is alumumiunm alloy - you specifically wnat header tank to be alloy? why?
I'd be concerned about the pipe diameters - 3/4 bsp OD is 26.9 mm OD so ID is even less; compare that to a 32 mm OD radiator pipe ~ 60 %
smaller.

at least a flying stone won't burst it
An oil cooler will take water (or that's what I'm lead to believe- hope so I'm using one as a heater matrix)..... As said though
it'll be over-spec'd and perhaps won't shift heat as well as a water radiator....
What's wrong with a £30 Polo radiator???
To clarify, I will be using two - I have a water cooled GSXR1100 that has a water rad and oil rad. Was thinking of using a smaller one for the oil and
a large one for the water - The hose connections are pretty small ID on the original bike....
They will be on display either side of the car, so I don't want it to look like there's part's of polo stuck on! I'm also fairly
limited on space...
^^^ ok so BEC then.
what about using two smaller bike engine radiators, one on each side and oil cooler infront of one of them?
the ali rads I pointed to sound like they will be too large.
i'd still be concerend about efficiency of an oil cooler being used to cool water though and I don;t know how oil coolers compare to water
radiators. you want to know in advacne that what you are fitting will do the job or else it will get expensive.
I think thinkauto have a graph showing efficiency of cooling that may be of some use.
The thinkauto ones seem very expensive - 125 inc vat vs £78 inc vat at rally design for a 25 row one
Am I looking at the wrong range?
I've looked and looked on ebay but can't find any small enough!

Hi
Why not think outside of the box and look at heater matrices?
Just a thought.

(it could be a misprint) As already suggested have a look at bike rads. If you're looking for particularly small rads have a look at something like the Africa Twin. This
bike has two small rads, one on each side of the frame in front of the fuel tank.
This is a Transalp but pretty much the same deal.
