I have a 1600 CVH XR3 engine with twin choke weber carb. I have a manifold for webber 40's also, and was thinking about using bike carbs on it.
R1 carbs seem a popular choice.
Would others be suitable? And even from a lesser bike say a 600cc?
I intend to use Megajolt. Am I right that bike carbs will have a TPS. What is best TPS or MAP?

I recall someone suggesting that the spacing between the carb barrels are different between 45s & the Mikuni carbs off the R1, so check carefully. I suspect the same's true of other bike carbs.

The R1 carbs do have a TPS as std, so I've made use of this in my Megajolt install. It makes more sense than MAP on multi-carb installations.

I have a set of suzuki srad carbs on a tasty stainless manifold,Mandrel bent tubes,not cut and shut like the Bogg bros ones,properly spaced and jetted for a 1600 CVH,They even have a support bracket to stop the carbs working loose on the manifold (common problem)Worked a treat on my old engine.Only £250. Something like ZX6R carbs would be ideal for a CVH. The later ones have a TPS and they are quite cheap. I've picked up a couple of sets for around £10-15 plus postage.

You can respace them fairly easily or make a manifold to mount them unspaced if you can weld / find someone to weld for you.

I paid £30 to get mine respaced and mounted them using the bike carb rubbers bolted to a 5mm plate. They work great on my 1.8 Zetec.

Mounting them horizontally isn't ideal, but they seem to work fine.

I'll be trying them on a 2.0 Zetec in the next couple of weeks, and have made a manifold to put them at an angle.

I respaced my CBR600 carbs, and it wasn't too hard a job (see website for details!).

They are mounted 30 degrees up from horizontal. Originally in the bike they were about 80 degrees from horizontal.
