Fiesta Thermostat Housing
Hornet - 10/1/04 at 03:58 PM

Guys

From which model of Fiesta do I get a Thermostat housing for my x-flow?
I did get one this morning, but it has an additional outlet on it for an overflow pipe.
I guess I could still use it after I blank that though?

Mk1 Fiestas have the correct housing. If you can block the overflow pipe effectively, I shouldn't think it would cause problems.

whilst this thread is about i may as well ask a question myself!

what is the reason for the fiesta unit being used? is it because the radiator is below it and it needs venting to remove airblocks, or is the system filled thru the hole?

my sierra one has a pipe out the top, is this suitable for the kitcar?

my expansion tank will be higher than the thermo, but i guess that essential anyway. is it?!

thanks anyone!

As far as the x flow goes the fiesta housing is used to automatically control the radiator fan, switching it on or off as the escort had a direct drive cooling fan. As for a sierra engine I don't know, and cannot remember if they have a direct drive fan or not. Mind you with the amount of people making sierra based car's the answer should pop up.

Hope this clear's up the fog a little

should've said, mines a 1600 pinto and it was previously a direct drive fan. The new radiator off a polo includes a thermo switch for the fan.

that help anyone with an answer?!
