Golf 1.9 tdi 130
On my way home just now there was a bang then no power from turbo loads of smoke out the back and sounded like a blown exhaust.
So got home about 3miles
Got the torch out and looked for a blow noting lifted the bonnet. Took the top cover off the engine. To find an air feed pipe I think? had come off.
(Pipe comes from left side front bottom and comes up to the top back and tee's in to the air pipe from the air box)
Held the pipe back in place noise gone power back. but wont stay there.
What i am worried about is it norm for there to be oil in this pipe. Is there more wrong than just the pipe popped out of place
Exactly the same sypmtoms as my old Audi TDI. That had around 140 thousand on it.
If it's any consolation, the MOT after this happened to mine, the tester complemented me on 'this being a clean one' in terms of
exhaust emissions.
Workmates 03 Golf TDI blew a boost hose off as well. It's not uncommon.
Not a worrier in my opinion.
yea just got 97k out of mine so just put hose back on 2moz then
It happens more than you'd think, It is normal for there to be oil in the pipe too. It does get pretty messy in TDI induction systems.
Prob need a new hose and clip for it to stay in place, Or a well placed cable tie depending on budget.
just fitted back on your right the nochs on the pipe have gone so till new one comes its held on with masking tape
This happened on my old Mk5 Golf tdi after 59,600 miles. They had to replace a few parts in the end as the plastic shroud that the hose clipped to at
the bottom of the engine had broken.
I'm assumind it was related but whilst limping to the garage the engine management light came on so they replaced the air flow meter too. Pretty
lucky with 400 miles of warranty left.
