Iīm buying myself a seven.
I have fallen in love with the MNR Vortx.
But should i go with the Busa and get the extra power or is the R1 enough ?
I usually canīt keep my hands off my cars so an option like supercharged must be left open.
But maby NA is enouhg.
Thatīs why Iīm quite in love with tha Busa as there is tons of part out there.
This will be my first seven and only for trackdays.
Is it worth the extra money ?
Any inputs for or against R1/Busa ?

Busa allday everyday, but then i would say that, i am Suzuki through and through.
R1 engines make quick cars. Busas more so but are muchos pesatas. You have to decide if it is worth it.
98 - 03 R1 engine make around 150 BHP and rev to 12000. Later ones more like 180 and rev to 14000. Busa engines make 180 BHP and rev to 11,000 RPM.
( Note to the pedantic, all figures are aproximate)
Busa engines are perhaps a couple of grand more expensive, are a bit more torquey due to the capacity and make the power at slightly lower revs.
R1 engines are cheaper, a bit lighter, but are more revvy. You pays your money you makes your choice.
For the cost of a busa, you can fit an R1, then replace it when it blows up.

The Busa needs to be dry-sumped for a track car. R1 just needs a baffle.

Thanks for input.
Torque is always welcome as well as high revs.
The extra money doesnīt scare me.
Iīd say the Busa is leading here.....
The R1 here has a nice setup, hadsnīt it ?

Decent Busa Ģ2500 to Ģ3500
Dry sump Ģ1500
Decent R1 Ģ1000 to Ģ2000
Baffle plate (from me!!!) Ģ29.95
If cost is not an option, then most will go for busa, but Ģ5000 is a lot just for your power plant.
But is the extra power not welcomed if I wanīt to race primarely on Nordschleife, Spa, ect. That is fast tracks.
I drove a CSR200 this summer on the Ring and felt I needed power on the long straights....

r1 and a turbo
I just donīt like turbo due to lag.
The thrill about a seven is its direct driving that the NA gives. Response.
Soren
ok
r1 and supercharger
Most the turbo bikes I've seen don't appear (from the videos at least!) to be that laggy. R1 or Busa...
Ask LocoR1 what he thinks (R1 Turbo).
I've got a lot of the bits needed to do mine but am leaving it as is at the moment as I still think I've got a lot to learn driving it as it
is.
I've built an R1 car.
Look at my avatar to see what's next
Just to be a pain - have you considered the Kawasaki ZZR1400 also??? 200bhp standard in the bike and i believe cheaper than the Busa. Not sure about sump mods but beleive Pace were developing a dry sump system which would be wise with slicks
if you want to use it at the ring, my opinion is you may need the busa so you wont be swallowed on the straights.
If it was me i'd go busa, i will for my next project.
If you're considering forced induction now or maybe some time in the future, you really need the Busa. If however, you're happy with a
normally aspirated engine, then a ZX12R will give you the same performance as the equivalent Busa and the ZZR1400 slightly better.

Thankīs for input.
It looks like itīs going to be the Busa then.
