What engine is installed in the Probe? Is the gearbox bolt pattern common with a type 9?

Will the gearbox mate up to a zetec engine??

Wondering what the interchangeability is for attaching the Probe gearbox to a zetec.

Will my zetec starter fit the probe bellhousing and is the clutch release hydraulic or cable??

I'm pretty sure the early 4 cylinder probes used a variant of the twin cam motor from the sierra. Probably the same as the galaxy with the 16V head, in 2.0 and 2.2L versions.
