Where to get a 1.8 cvh cam belt tensioner

Can any one advise where I can get a cam belt tensioner or cam belt kit from please at a reasonable cost. Local factors cannot source the tensioner and ford agent wants over £100 for it. I am changing the water pump as the bearings have gone and wanted to change the belt and tensioner as well. Engine is from a 1991 ford saphire, 1.8 petrol cvh engine with carb.

Many thanks

Try Burton Power or, if you have one, a local engine builder/reconditioner. They can often supply itme slike this at quite reasonable cost.

burtons don't seem to list the 1.8 CVH one (or at least I couldn't see it) - but it might be worth giving them a call anyway

I found exactly the same very expensive! So I refurbed mine! arrrggghhh I hear you say? The casting was fine as was the roller. I pulled the retaining clip off then used a puller to get the roller off and pressed the bearing out. cleaned the outside of the roller in the lathe with 1000 wet and dry then pressed the new bearing in. The only difficult bit was getting a new spring clip. ( I dare say you can by them but Iturned mine up out of a piece of spring steel then cut the slots with a junior hacksaw it fitted perfectly and works fine. Ill post a piccy in the next hour or so. I have a spare bearing still in its packet if you wish. Kev

Looks like the 1.8 tensioner never made it to the aftermarket - so looks like genuine Ford, or refurbish as per wrigglypig..

Have found at kit at carparts-direct.co.uk but they want £129.98 + £4.95 p&p. The old one seems ok so it may be going back in. Tthe engine has only done 63k, cambelt was actually changed 10k ago, just the water pump bearings have gone

Wrigglypig - how much do you want for the bearing?
