Firstly, reply in the other thread rather than making a whole new pointless one and why ask about putting the gears out of a v6 box into another if you haven't even got one when you may as well just find another box of the other type and save yourself fuckloads of hassle?

I'm sure I'm not the only one that wonders if you're on a bit of a wind up...

the box i have got is a 4x4 and it won't fit. so i was thinking of using the bell houseing of it with a sierra box houseing and the 4x4 gears with out the front wheel drive bit

assming that you have a ford V6 from the eighties - ie a cologne - then the type nine box will fit, but needs to be from a v6 as they have an extended input shaft.

virtually no 2.9 or 2.8 v6 were manual box.

there were a few 2.4 litre V6 granada made between about 86 - 89 (i have the engine and box from one in my car) and these had the correct box.

these are 2wd and not the 4wd type

a v6 2.4 manual should fit a 2.9 or 2.8 - apart from hassles that you need to get a manual flywheel and other stuff.

I got a 2.4 V6 for the sole reason I wanted a v6, and that was the easiest route - ie had a manual box.

on the other hand, it only makes 130 hp agains the not massive 150 that the 2.9 / 2.8 makes.

why not consider the 2 litre 8v dohc that was fitted in sierra from 89 on - it makes 125 hp and comes with a box that fits!

BTW - I kinda agree with Hippy.

You need a 2.8 capri gearbox or buy a standard one and spend a bomb on a longer input shaft conversion.

or just buy a pinto sierra and be done with it.

16v fits 8v block but isn't a straight swap, there's a nylon pressure relief valve. if you want the 16v head, get the 16v engine.

I have a 4 Speed Box, Bell Housing and Flywheel that you can have for what they cost me £100

All from a Granada 2.8i V6 Cologne.

I spent ages tracking the down to use and the day after I bought them a 5 speed box came up! Just my luck!
