RV8 - unleaded ?
hi
can anyone give me a clue/quick test to see if my engine is ok for unleaded petrol ?
i'm sure i looked into it when i got the engine but someone has put doubt in my mind
standard rv8 from an sd1, 9.51 compression, unknown age

All RV8's are unleaded, unless its a very early P5 or possible some early P6 engines.
(numbers only in the engine number)
If its a SDI then its definately unleaded.
At a worst case, you will need a pair of later heads.
I would run it anyway, as you will get a lot of use before you trash the heads running leaded head on unleaded petrol.
My may got 5 years of 40 miles a day (to work) out of a leaded head on his Landy before it needed doing.
Check your engine number against this site.
If its a 10A onwards, then its definately unleaded.

I think you really dont have anything to worry about.
1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
