Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep
When I floor the accelerator I get a couple of seconds of a chirping noise from the carbs - any ideas?
1660cc X-flow, roughly 100 BHP
CBR600FX carbs
Home-made airbox/filter
Home-made manifold
Genuine Honda rubber couplers between carbs and manifold
Everything's running well - just wondering it should happen, or if something needs fixing!

Where's your mother gone?? Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep
For those of you not old enough it was a song in the late sixties /early seventies by Middle of the road IIRC. Not a lot of help David I know.
Possible sharp edge on the air box?

It's fine - just the sudden influx of air at an angle (try blowing across the top of a bottle).
I wish I could hear mine chirping!

It does get drowned out by the snarl of the air going into the carbs...

You've got me wondering know, I've noticed a slight noise like a cheep cheep on mine when I floor it and I kind of thought the fan belt
was slipping or alternator bearing was a bit noisy although on the other hand the belt is defo tight enough. Could be the same!
You've got me curious now!!!
Cheers
Rich

As richard K i thought it was just the fan belt of thrust bearing.. it only happens when blipping the throttle at low rpm.

Some years ago I had some problems with a Datsun I had - yes, a Datsun (for all you younger whippersnappers, they changed their name to Nissan in the
'70s).
The car was ok until you got a few revs on - then it coughed and spluttered, and basically said it wasn't going to go any faster.
After much rooting round under the bonnet, I eventually found the culprit - a complete DEAD BIRD wedged in the inlet pipe of the air cleaner!!!

Er - not that this is very relevant to your problem I know........

I have the same after making my own inlet manifold. It must have a very small warp in it that is not taken up by the inlet gasket. If I put my finger
on the area I can feel the vibration and the noise stops.
I am going to try another gasket and nip it up again.
