SUPERCHARGING ENGINE
hi wanted to know if any of you are familiar with supercharging? Just got me one of those eaton chargers off ebay fo minis. It's going onto an
alfa 1.7 16v engine and wanted to know ho to calculate which pulley to use etc...

Supercharging
It depends on the flow rate of the supercharger at a given supercharger rpm and the engine compression ratio.
As a mini engine is smaller than the Alfa unit it will probably need to be driven about 50% faster for a given engine speed just to account for the
difference between the two engine sizes.
The other issue is the compression ratio. The lower the ratio the more boost you can have and the higher power you can get. Obviously there are limits
to how far you can take this as the engine also becomes more highly stressed, more tempermental and may be limited by other things like the valve
timing, injection/carb settings, intake, exhaust, reliability, heat generation/cooling, etc.
Alfa engine tuners might be able to advise on this sort of thing. My knowledge stops at what I've posted here.
