Xflow identification
When building the car I bought a mk2 escort ghia 1.6 xflow.
However things are playing in my mind as to whether or not it is a 1.6,
Is there anything I can identify that say if it is a 1.6 or 1.3??

Easiest way is the height of the block --- as a rough guide on the 1300/1100 the lower surface of the head where the thermostat housing is is quite
close to the water pump, on the 1600 the top surface of the block is higher to accomadate the longer stroke so the space is bigger.

According to my book, Rebuilding & Tuning Ford X-Flow & Pinto Engines by Peter & John Wallage, you should see the following code cast into
the side of the block:
711M-6015-BA
(These are thick letters about 20mm high).
1100 and 1300 engines finish with -AA, and X-flow boat engines finish with -EA. Gutless Transit engines had -FA, which was apt!

I am now annoyed!!
The engine which i thought was a 1600 is now a 1300.
anyone know where the best place to get one from is?
