How much

I've been quoted £1,233 for webber alpha kit for a zetec engine. Is that right?!

Probably. Best check out other options before handing over hard earned. Weber set up can only be changed by a Weber dealer. Other ECUs can be set up with a PC or laptop with simple software. I used Emerald which was supplied with a zetec map which was fine tuned on a rolling road, and I am able to alter anything I like with ease...idle speed, fueling, coolant fan on/off, ignition etc etc.

As I say there are lots of options. Checkout Jenvey web site, they give loads of info on injection and ECUs and links to some of the better known companies.

I suspect very unlikely. I have heard people passing later test with carbs and a special cat (which fell off on the way home).

£1233 sounds quite good from what I have read in 'Performance ford' magazine. The going rate at the moment seems to be nearer £1400.

I completely agree! That sounds a good price!! (though obviously not "locost"!!)

The ecu alone (£500ish) may be much cheaper but you are not going to get the throttle bodies cheap, direct from Jenvey the cheapest ones are around £385 +vat for the ones that fit onto a weber inlet manifold (which itself is another £70 +vat if bought new) the throttle pot is at least £20 etc etc etc
