Ford sierra 2.0i dohc in locost

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has already fitted a DOHC engine in a Locost.

I'm also foreseeing some EFI problems with this one...

Greetings,

Joost

Have you seen the build manual for the luego
velocity? This covers installing the engine, using
the original but slightly modified EFI. I think the
velocity is more or less the same dimensions as
a lowcost, but the bonnet GRP is taller.

The build manual can be found online at:

Hope that helps,
Tim

Have a good read thru the passed threads on this engine before deciding for sure. Lots of info and ideas for other poss better engines.

THE DOHC has a reputation for self distructing at circa 100,000 miles with gudeon pin failure.

Look at a Zetec instead -- much the same installation problems but a better lighter more sporty unit.

Actually I don't want Q plates so that's the reason for installing the sierra engine from my donorcar. My budget is also limited...

First I want to get the low budget car trough SVA, later on I will probably put an other engine (and transmision) in it, for instance a vauxaull 2.0 16v.

Greetings

Josty - that is the same principle I am using. I intend to make the chassis taller to allow for the engine, and to provide room for other tall engines which may replace the DOHC later. I reckon 125bhp is not bad when it is included in the donor price.
