Gearbox problems
Maybe not such a happy posting, but we finally bottomed the cause of our problems regarding to our car jumping and banging upon gentle/hard
acceleration in 2nd-3rd gears. After working our way through the seemingly millions of bolts and fixings... we got to the transmission shaft.
We stripped out the geartrain, the gears looked fine... the drive dogs on 2-3 gears looked slightly 'frittered' (very slight chipping)
which we thought not too bad to cause our problem. We then stripped the selector fork shaft and looked at the forks in detail. We came across
this...

(I haven't put the picture here as it is large and would pinch the screen)
The fork has probably been bent as we acquired it, and the problem has become gradually worse. Trouble is the damage on the fork has also caused a
chip to occur on the selector barrel, compounding the problem!
So although the news is bad - at least we have found the root cause - which is good!!!!
Our quest to find a replacement fork (MV9L) and barrel (to suit) is now on...
Honda Fireblade RRS (Feb. 1995) 893cc
...so if you know anyone/anywhere where we can source one - you know who to call... we'll be grateful - honest!!!
THANKS!!!!
