Injector characteristics
I'm getting hooked on the Megasquirt route to sort my injection on my 2.0l Zetec. It's all still very much in the read all about it phase
but I have to say I'm inspired by the DIY / Locost approach to the system.
I have a rough idea of the flow rate of the fuel injectors required and feel I will probably opt for Jenvey TBs.
The question is how do I identify suitable donor vehicles for injectors to 'fall out of' during my visits to the scrappy? ie does anyone
know of a site that lists vhicles, their injectors and flow rates.

Be sure to use injectors with a suitable (highish) resistance. Although i think that MS also supports peak and hold injectors, i don't think
it's worth the fuss and if you decide to upgrade to a halltech / DTA / Emerald system you needn't change injectors.
or, alternatively, look for cars that have a similar output in hp/cilinder as your own engine (aim for 50hp/cilinder, this should give you sufficient
capacity)
If you can't find suitable injectors, run a (slightly!) higher fuel pressure, but make sure you get a pump that supplies enough flow to maintain
the regulated pressure at maximum flow (eg: injectors open all the time).
Also make your fuel pressure comensated on MAP (inlet manifold pressure) or you run the risk of bad idling due to too short injection times.

I've used beige Bosch injectors from SRi or GTE Vx 2ltr or anything else that has the same ones. Also Vx out of tank fuel pump from the same
running 3.25 bar regulator. Set of injectors £25 and pump £15. I've got a Emerald ECU but they should work fine with any ECU. Don't be too
tempted to go for anything too large as there are no benifits, Vx parts should be good for 200BHP.

Yep, zetec is dead right on this, the Bosch cream (beige) injectors are very commonly used, readily available cheaply and good to at least 220hp. I
have these on my 200hp Vauxhall XE. (in Jenvey bodies)
interesting point of note, though I haven't had the chance to verify it, I have just been told that Suzuki GSXR 1100 injection (the very late
ones) bodies go almost straight onto Weber DCOE flanges, with just a spot of filing on the holes necessary. Sounds too good to be true but someone may
know! (they are also 46mm bore apparently which is nice!!)
A set of bike throttle bodies is around £100 delivered to your door and incl vat from the good bike breakers! Bit cheaper than the £400 for Jenveys!!

Another quick question. Do I need to purchase a throttle position sensor from Jenvey or is there an equivilent one I could maybe
'liberate'

Here in the US...
Stock Zetecs use injectors rated at 19 lbs, to keep a smooth idle you cannot use an injector over 30 lbs, after that, if your engine requires that
much gas you need to start looking into dual stage injector systems. The system I was running on my turbo'd focus used the stock 19 lb injectors
higher in the manifold, and left the 42 lb injectors at the intake manifold flange. This was necessary for 16lbs of boost.

Emerald run most injectors between 2.75 and 3.5 bar as far as I know, also the regulator I bought is set at 3bar as standard. With mine set at 3.25
bar I can start the car without touching the throttle and it will start and idle at 900 rpm all day long. If the fuel presure is too low the injector
will not produce a good fuel pattern/mist and droplets will form similar to when there is a blockage. As said Vx setup will work fine.

Mix, I think the cheapest source for the TPS that I have seen and that will fit straight onto the Jenvey bodies is from Emerald, www.emeraldm3d.com,
and is £23. Really cheap ones will wear out quickly and malfunction.
