Exhaust Manifold Question

Right, i dont know much about exhausts, as you are about to realise

I am using the Toyota 4AGE engine and have come to the problem of the exhaust.

My question is;

Is it possible to use the flexi, convaluted pipe direct from the cylinder head exhaust flange to the 4 into 1 (or 4 into 2 into 1)? If it is possible, i assume there will be a power loss, what loss would you expect it to be? What is the best way of overcoming this from a DIY perspective?

If anyone has used this method, then photos would be greatly appreciated.

Also, i would be very interested to see what other 4AGE users have done, especially the homemade ones.

Thanks.

the flexible ones have a very bumpy interior, so id limit the use if possible. the 4 branches should be the same length ideally. I made my own 4-2-1 from scrap, they arent the same length but im not bothered - it works ok anyway.
