Why doesn't my Indy-Blade dound like a Fireblade ??
as the title really.
obviously there may be some problems with what I'm running but my indy-blade doesn't sound like a bike..
its running with an MK silencer.. Thye sound my Indy-blade makes is alot more throatier than I a bike..
A bike sounds very crisp and clean when its reved i think but like I say my car sounds very throaty and deep.
could this be reverberation from other car components ??
or is it just the MK silencer ??
Does anyone else have this "problem" ??
I call it a problem because I would like my girlfriend to come on some drives with me but she absoloutely hate the noise that it makes.
Personally I don't find the noise awefull just a bit crude and sometimes it sounds like a bloody chav chariot when I'm going thru small
villages !!
I know its a bit of a weird question but any help would be great
cheers Alan

do U think thats what it is ??
To be honest I'm not convinced that MK's silencer is the best as they leak loads and rattle like mad.. well that just mine..

Why not pick up a cheap secondhand bike can and give it a try? you could always upgrade it if you find thats the solution. I would of thought you
could pick up a scruffy bike can for around £35

Why not try a posting in the Wanted section first. I bet someone has a spare can lying about you could try for the costs of the postage etc. Probably
a cheaper option.
Worth a try.

Mine does.
I found with both the R1 silencer and my current VIPER (cough competition use only) it sounds more like a bike than most of the bikes

It's probably a combination of,
A, The larger bore, less restrictive, longer exhaust.
B, Different intake (if you don't have the standar air-box).
C, Tunning as a result of A+B (has it been re-mapped? )
D, Vibration from the bonnet/body panels

Have you got the original airbox fitted, or do you have an open foam filter on a back plate? that will be making the engine sound different too

To add to the above list I felt my old BEC sounded deeper when driven. It seemed that when the engine was put under load it deepended its tone. Rev it
at the lights and it sounded more tuneful.
I think a different silencer will make a different noise. Weather you get away from the 'chav' noise is another matter. Unfortunatly they
make their cr&p cars sound like our sporty ones!!
HTH.
If not then ear plugs. My wife always wears them if we go for anything more than a short drive. The car sounds a lot louder to the passenger (if the
exhaust is on that side of course!)
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

also the exhaust could be sookin in air at any joins which will make it sound rougher...
is it the old style of silencer or the massive new one?

Sounds like it is just your can, if you park both A1's car and mine together which both have R1 engines the sound so different.
A1 has the MK silencer I think where I have a free flowing oval bike can.
On full chat both cars sound similar but as you said the MK does not sounds as crisp, a little duller.
Think your girlfriend may change her mind after sitting inch's away from an open bike end can though, its different on the bike as they are much
lower and further behind your ears!!!
