Help, Zetec nearside engine mount

Making up the plates to make the engine mounts for the 1.8 silvertop. Offside is OK I can see three triangulated points to fix the mounting, but what is the recommended fixing on the nearside. I have three points in a line and a few more holes further away.

from recollection you use the alternator bracket mounts on the front left of the engine.
Four bolts in a rectangle you can see two of them in your picture

On the left of your pic, where that plate thing is mounted. you can only see two bolts in the pic, but there are four on the block.

that's where mine is mounted.

Oh that’s poo!

That is where I have mounted the alternator, that is a modified CVH alternator block fitted with the CVH alternator. It kept it away from the steering shaft, oil filter and inlet plenum.

Wondering if I could do a wrap around bracket using the two bolts you see going into one of the three holes.

Would like to have the bracket mid way down the engine, but found it difficult to reason out.

I'm sure you could use those holes, but it might be a bit trickier.

could you not fit the mount over the alternator bracket with long studs or bolts?

Been looking and I could use the last two holes there and fab up a bracket I think.

I would have to mill the alt bracket I have to be flat over the two holes but that should not be a problem.

I have to get some plate for it, I have 10mm plate but suspect it is too thick, I would certainly struggle to weld that thickness up anyway.

I think the body of the alternator would get in the way of the engine mount if I mounted over the top?

I;m not necessarily saying to buy them, but you can use these to get an idea of where you can mount to

Speedstar. That is a good idea. the one on the left obviously sits where my alt bracket is so mine would have to be made to allow.

I need to take some measurements getting an idea of drop needed to go to my engine mounts.

Thanks

Adrian

I was going to say the gts has a two leg thing that you could make work. I would beef them up a little though.

Hi Gents,

Just jumping in on this thread as the photo of the engine in question shows the casting number 20C96 on the side.

Does anyone know what it means?

I would be interested to know as mine has been ground off !!!!

Len.

But is there anything in that bottom hole or does it mate up with something on the alt bracket or on the sump?
