You need a reasonable size take off from one port, probably 4mm.
I would run 4 smaller take offs from each runner into a small plenumlike you do for a megajolt setup.
You can run a distributor without vac ad ace but your fuel consumption will go up and your spark control will not be precise.
The megajolt system can run off a TPS on the carbs negating the need for any vac take off.
Your fitting bike carbs for more power so why loose power by not having good spark control?

^^ the classic solution is to get a re-tunned dizzy with the vac advance removed, but these can cost around as £200+
megajolt should only set you back around £130 if you source the donor bits yourself
and the end result should be better than any re-tunned dizzy

the simple answer is its a very basic DIY ecu that does sparks only - replacing the dizzy with a modern 3D ignition system that you can tune
yourself
(although you'll need to keep at least the bottom half of the dizzy to drive your oil pump on the pinto )
the current version uses a few bits commonly found in 90's fords:
I'll assume the bike carb's you've got already have a TPS fitted (throttle position sensor)
so the bits you need are:
1- the Megajolt ECU (TPS version)
2- a Ford 'EDIS4' ignition control module
3- a coilpack form a 4 cyl Ford
4- some plug leads to suit
5- a 'VR' sensor (crank position sensor)
6- a Trigger wheel for crank sensor
the EDIS4 was used on lots of 90's fords, the coil packs and VR sensors are on nearly all the fords from the early 90's onwards
early 90's fiesta's and escorts are a good source, especialy 1.3 and 1.6 ones as they should have it all together
some places sell you all the bits in a kit - but you'll pay allot extra for that...
I got all mine from a scrap K reg escort for £25, and with a bit of effort stripping its loom I even managed to get all the wires between the bits
without cutting any (not that big a deal, but it saves a few connectors later)
my donor bits linky
I know that might look scary if your not a fan of wiring (it scared me to start with) but there arn't actually that many wires
trigger wheels can be bought from a few places such as trigger-wheels.com or you can
get one cut out to your drawing by someone like andyw7de (I've drawn up a few for folk on here)
other than that you'll need to make up a couple of brackets and a few wires to join those bits up (you should be able to get most of the wiring
with the donor bits) and PC to plug in and tune it once its installed
here's the offical MJ install guide: autosportlabs.net (loads of info
on that site)
and there are quite a few threads on this forum about installing it on a pinto
I've probably made that seem harder than it really is - so don't let me scare you off, there are plenty other folk on here who can help

If going to all that expense why not bin the pinto for a zetec. Miles better and cheap as chips. Just a thought.

Locost solution as used by many for side draughts and bike carbs is just use the std distributor and don't connect the vac advance. The vac
system advances the ignition at low throttle openings to improve fuel consumption and driveability.
Phoned the local ramblers club today, but the bloke who answered just
went on and on.

Megajolt is good as it can be set up fairly easy and kits are on the net. Think trigger wheels sell the full kit.
Standard dizz but as said with out the vac pipe connected. The timing needs to be adjusted by running the engine at 3000rpm and setting the to 38deg.
roughly.
Or better to get a dizzy set up for none vac advance.
I tried to connect up the vac unit on mine to all 4 inlet runners and it was a big fail. The inlet pulses cause the vac unit to bounce.

you can get round that if you feed the 4 runners in to a large enough chamber to let them ballance out, then feed a line from this to the dizzy / MAP
sensor - but as you say its easier not to...
as you say trigger wheels will sell you a full kit, but its £300
if you do a bit of leg work in the scrayard you can half that

Yes i need the tank for my throttle bodies and the ST motor if i run a map sensor.
