Zetec running temperature

Evening all,

I hope everyone is well?

I've just bought a polo radiator for the 7 i'm rebuilding. It's got a 2.0l zetec silvertop.

My question is this: What temperature does the zetec engine run at? I'm really not sure what temperature switch I need.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Depends which stat it has got. I use an earlier 88 degree stat and the engine normally runs at 86 to 88 depending upon the ambient temp, this stat is no longer available new, mine came out of a donor years ago. The current stat is 92 degrees, the engine will run between 90 and 92. All these temps are on my VDO gauge which I checked with a termocouple years ago and is spot on. With the 88 degree stat I use a 95 degree fan switch, with a 92 degree stat you would need one nearer 100 degrees.

The temp of the stat is stamped on it.

Zetecs are designed to run hot.

Paul

As said I run the same and have my fan on at 99 deg, off at 94 deg, 92 deg stat and fan comes on after a few mins of sitting in traffic and stays off during normal driving.

Brilliant, thank you for the replies. I'll have a look at the stat at some point and source a fan switch from there.

Thank you again,
Chris
