Black or Silver top and what inlet setup are you using ?
Some sensors are differant so match ecu age to the engine-ish or get the sensors with the ecu.
If you have a 2.0 engine get a 2.0 MANUAL ecu.
Early post Pat ecu's are still 64 pin with no obd2 but the obd2 is well worth the work.
Ecu
key(keys)
engine loom
aerial with plug
Obd2 plug
Maf
Lambda
TPS
Air temp sensor (part of the maf on black tops)
The rest of the sensors you need should be on your engine. There are others but you dont need them in a kit.
Pats only adds 4 wires to the ecu but there are very few people doing it. Obd2 is another 6 but I can then use my phone for live data and fault
finding with the torque app or any cheapo reader.

P will be a 64 pin eec-iv R will be the 104 pin eec-v.
I would have the newer one any day of the week. Good chance it will be an Owls for a 2.0 R plate manual.

Owls will be ideal with a silver top. Air temp sensor is a push in sensor, under the ruber air inlet elbow.
My local scrapie is crap for ecu's as I can never find the keys.
Lambda will be a pain in the arse, Fiesta of the same age will be easier.
Get more than one injector loom. Its a seperate loom but the wire insulation goes crispy at the inj plugs and could well be the reason its there in
the first place.

Ive been to the scrappy and unfortunatley most of them dont have keys.
Does anyone have an ecu with keys they can sell me? Then i guess its just a matter of wiring and a couple of sensors?

Best bet is a wanted post on here or ebay for the ecu with key and then get a matching loom from the scrapie.

Slight thread drift I know but how much' flex' is there in EEC V ? By that I mean for airflow related mods. I run Piper 633 cams in my
Lotus K series engine with no problem even though I have a dyno checked 10% increase in power. These things are supposed to be adaptive but how much
in practice? ( I am thinking of running bike TBs on my 1.7 Puma engine. )

As long as the ecu see's the sensors they will adapt bike Tb's have been done aswell as cams. As to what gain I cant say with figures.

If you're buying a silver top 'up and over' inlet remember there are three types. The one to look for is the HO type as it has the
biggest ports and runners. You'll also need the sandwich plate that the injectors sit in, injectors, rail and throttle body (it's bigger
- same size as a 2.0 but with the correct linkage to fit the 1.8/1.6 manifold).
The 'HO' is stamped on the back of runner 1 and they come from early (zetec) XR3i's and escort cabriolets.
'SO' is second best. The ones with no stamping are either from 1.6's or late 1.8's and have the smallest ports.
