Gearbox whine

Bit of a whine on my Transit gearbox, do oil additives work, I have heard some say it can mess up the synchro's others say it did the trick and reduced the noise. Experience, comments or views please

This is one of those difficult questions - a lot will say replace it/repair it.....

It for me depends on how old the van is, and what exactly do you want from it.

If its an oldy, and your only expecting £1500 from it at sale, its not worth spending on.

Live with the whine, my Freelander (yes I bought one) is mechanical music with the radio off, whines, bearings and other agricultural stuff.

Ive never broke a gearbox yet, had plenty that whine.
