Xflow Flywheel - weights?
Weighed my 1600 flywheel. Scales show 22lbs. Seems too much for GT engine.
Anybody got weight figures for other xflows, or pinto's?
Secondly, is there any reliable info on flywheel lightening e.g. dimensions?
Any input welcome.
Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!

Weights
Wallage book gives weight range from 26 to 16.75lbs., but no weight specific to the GT model.
Still hoping for feedback.

I recently had a new ring gear fitted by out local motor engineers with a good reputation and at the same time I was persuaded to have the flywheel
lightened. They removed 8lbs(3.6kg) which left it at approx min weight of the standard Ford weight of 16.75 lbs. The wheel is now fitted and in the
car but I read with some concern in 2 places about the potential problmes with machining cast iron wheels, Burton Power in there catalogue say, quote
'Original equipment cast iron flywheels are invariably too heavy and when lightened, should carry a government health warning!', and in
the Wallage book they talk about making sure that there are quote 'proper safe radius where they've machined metal off'. Not sure
whether there are safe rads, am I worrying unduly, any expert comments would be appreciated.

Think Wallages were referring to edge radii. Apparently aim is to reduce chances of small edge cracks propagating under centrifugal stresses.
