rad fan mounting kit

got one of those £19 radiator fans off ebay the other day, looks good. came with a universal fitting kit that threads through the fins on the radiator. all good there

the kit consists of 4 plastic ties with securing clips, 8 foam pads, and 4 springs

I'm guessing the order is:
Plastic tie, foam pad, radiator, foam pad, fan, spring, securing clip?
does that sound about right? or does the spring go somewhere else?

I 'think' the spring goes under the fan between the radiator and fan. But I'm sure some one will confirm.

Also expect lots of people telling you not to use that kit.

I think the problem that Ben is refering to is that the ties tend to stretch over time and then start to act like a saw, cutting through the rad matrix. One way of overcoming this is to run the ties through plastic tube . HTH

... that's if the ties don't snap when you breathe in their general direction!

I put the spring behind fan... tie-spring-fan-foam-rad-foam-clip.
Makes the most sense to me, I think, the whole operation is kept secure and the spring takes up the slack.

Edit just noticed you did the same just from the other direction... lol

i know they're not brilliant, plan to use a bit of heat shrink to protect the radiator itself, besides the radiator is a second hand effort, so the ties will do for now til i get a proper new radiator. when that happens i'll look at a proper aluminium mounting thing

but as Craigorypeck says, its as i thought it would be, so thats good.
"for professional installation" was their excuse for not sending out any kind of instructions lol
