Lsd with sierra drums
Hi all i cant seem to find the right thread to answer my question ...
Basically i have bought an sierra LSD for a very good price ...
My car uses a sierra rear end and drum's
I don't want to swap to discs like other threads have covered ...
I understand my current shafts on standard diff are push in and the Lsd ones are bolt on
I heard you have to modify the bolt on shafts on the end they meet the drums although im not sure why ?
is there anyone that has done this that can explain what needs to be done ?
Also if anyone has shafts already modified they dont need let me know a price .
or if anyone would modify them for me for some beer tokens
Thanks Ryan

Desiel push in shafts and two Lobro CVs
Has to be Desiel as standard push fit shafts are Thiner than the Lobro bolt ons
Take Desiel tripod uj's of at the diff end replace with bolt on Lobros from any 100mm lobro

Get a set of disk hubs and shafts from ebay.
Cut the calliper mounts off and they are a direct
replacement for you push in shafts and hubs.
Then sell your push in rear end complete and make
some cash back.

I guess I must have been lucky. I converted using the sierra donor push-in/drum brake bits. My donor was a 2.0L pinto 1985 car. Took out the old diff,
put in the new, removed the diff end tripodes and stuck on the lobros from the local partco. Job done.

I have a lsd, bolt on shafts and drums...
I simply cut the caliper brackets off the bearing carrier and bolted the drum back plates on. Job done

I imagine getting some diesel shafts are going to be hard to find to fit lobro joints to ...
Im told you cant fit lobro joints on standard shafts only diesel
I was also told you could remove the rear diff cover nock of the 2 clips pull the flanges out and then it was possible to use push in shafts ...
I all abit confused now....
Shall i just buy some bolt on shafts and hubs and cut the caliper brackets off
Can someone help me....

There are 2 sizes for the tripod shafts. If your lucky and have late model ones they should be the thick ones.
All you need to do is measure the push in shafts against the lobro shaft.
You can't remove the drive flanges from the lsd and fit the push in shafts as they dont fit.

Do you have any pictures of this setup? Im trying to get my head around doing the same, but the stub axles on the disk/bolt on shafts are quite
differnt to the drum ones (drum ones have a smooth area to sit in the bearings, where as drive hub sits in the bearings on the disk versions.
