Low rev misfire

MK Indy - Fireblade 900cc on carb's

Slowly making my way through the list of over winter mods/faults etc. One I can't check, as the car cannot be road tested, was a mis-fire on pick up. On track days I would put my foot down and it would momentarily hold back with a misfiring splutter around 2000rpm then clear itself as it went through 5000rpm or so. Any thoughts of what it's likely to be so that I can change any faulty parts. The plugs were new at the start of last year, maybe I should try new leads or coils. What do you think? Barry

A friend of mine had a similar issue with a r1 kit car and it was the air correction jets that balance everything out !! He had removed the air box and put a filter on and that's when his problems started !!

What airfilter set up have you got, pipercross?, have you dynojetted it yet, sounds like my blade was when I collected it from the last owner, bogging down and a misfire below 3000 rpm, clears as you get up the rev range, but still not pulling as strong as it should, I not drove it yet since Ive fitted the dynojet kit, but Ive drove other 893 blade engine cars and now how strong they pull when well set up.

I've got the Fireblade air box reversed in place and it was Dyno jetted by Andy Bates. This set up was in place throughout the season but it was only towards the end that it started to happened.

Low revs light to moderate throttle tends to be fueling. High revs full throttle tends to be ignition. Very crude rule of thumb!
